René at Tlaquepaque, an upscale French continental restaurant, is temporarily closed for deep cleaning and employee screening after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
Wendy Lippman, Tlaquepaque’s resident partner and general manager, said that René closed voluntarily after a worker who had been home sick from work for 10 days notified the restaurant they had tested positive.
“We will be temporarily closed due to safety measures,” a message on the restaurant’s answering machine states. “We are having all our employees tested and once all the test results get back and we feel safe to open for the public we will be reopening at that time.”
Lippman said that René is the only business in the shopping center currently affected by a COVID-19 detection. No other restaurants reported cases.
Besides the Chai Spot, which previously planned to delay reopening until July 1, the rest of Tlaquepaque’s businesses are open, Lippman said.
