Three Sedona police officers sustained minor injuries during an arrest of a California man in West Sedona on Thursday, July 9.
According to a police report, a man called into the department during early morning hours and alleged that a man had punched him. At around 1:30 a.m., officers made contact with suspect Donovan Jelicich to ask about the disorderly conduct complaint.
After attempting to strike one officer, the report states that Jelicich ran away and a short foot pursuit ensued along Shelby Drive. Jelicich turned and fought two officers and kicked a third. Jelicich was tased and struck several times while fighting back.
Eventually Jelicich was taken into custody. Police found that he had a felony nationwide extradition for absconding his probation in California. Jelicich was charged with three counts of assault on law enforceÂment officers, three counts of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct along with the felony warrant.
Sgt. Michael Dominguez said all three officers involved in the incident are doing well.
