Sedona Burger King to close after 34 years1 min read

The Burger King in Sedona will be closing after three decades of serving locals and visitors from its two-story building located on 175 State Route 89A at the Brewer Road roundabout.

On Monday, Aug. 17, the building’s Burger King signs were removed and placed inside.

All the Burger King signs have been removed from the building.

A spokesperson for Estaban Enterprises Inc., the Scottsdale-based company that owns the local franchise, confirmed the franchise was closing but did not provide more information.

The franchise has 22 part-time and full-time employees, according to buzzfile.com.

The Sedona Burger King was built in 1986 and opened Oct. 3, 1986, 15 months before Sedona’s incorporation in January 1988.

When it opened in 1986, a Whopper cost 99 cents while local grocery store Weber’s IGA, a 16oz package of Blue Bonnet margarine cost 9 cents, a pound of country-style pork ribs cost $1.49 and a 6-pack of Corona beer sold for $3.89. A two bedroom, two bath house with red rock views in West Sedona was selling for $83,900.
