After taking more than a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the free Red Dirt Concert series is back with a variety of music to meet most everyone’s tastes.

“We have a fantastic line-up this season offering a wide variety of genres and local representation,” Parks and Recreation Manager Dawn Norman said. “The amount of interest received and the caliber of talent far exceeded our expectations, making the selection process difficult.

“Concertgoers will not be disappointed. All concerts will offer a wonderful evening of great music at one of the most pristine and breathtaking outdoor venues in Arizona.”

The four-week lineup includes:

■ Sept. 3: Eric Nelson opening for Toucan Eddy

■ Sept. 10: Tommy Rocks and Seth Brown

■ Sept. 17: Wind & Strings opening for Foxy Koshka

■ Sept. 24: Nathan Trujillo opening for The Bergamot

All concerts run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pavilion at Posse Grounds Park.

“Our goal is always to offer a variety of genres so that audience members are exposed to music that they may never take the opportunity to hear,” Norman said, noting that each concert must feature one local performer from Sedona, the Verde Valley and/or Flagstaff.

“This season we have surpassed the local performer requirement, all but one are local artists. It is amazing that our area is home to so many professional top notch performers.”

Even though the concert series is returning, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will still be considered as those attending are asked to social distance when possible.

“We are just as excited as the public to be able to offer a community event for our residents,” Norman said. “We have missed being able to gather with community and we recognize the importance for all of us.

“We want our events to be successful and safe so that we can continue to generate opportunities like the concerts for our residents. We will maintain being cautious and taking measures to ensure we manage capacity and remind attendees to respect others and their space due to the current situation.”
