Sedona City Council unanimously voted to amend the conditional use permit to uphold Running River School’s rental of Christ Center Wesleyan Church’s building to house their school at the Nov. 23 city council meeting.

On Oct. 5, adjacent neighbors to the church, Eileen E. Grant and her daughter Eileen Grant Jr. submitted an appeal against the Sedona Planning and Zoning Commission’s approval of the lease. The lease was approved by the commission with a 6-1 vote back on Sept. 21.

Eileen Grant Jr., along with her mother’s attorney, spoke on behalf of their appeal to the council.

Running River School administrator Lupita Pollock was then allowed to speak for the school. After both sides had presented their argument, the public was given a chance to present their opinions on the school’s temporary rental of the church.

The full article on the council’s decision to amend the CUP will be printed in the Dec. 1 edition of the Sedona Red Rock News.
