Fred Piper, a resident of the Verde Valley, died May 24.
He was the last surviving World War II veteran of the Sedona Boys. He worked across the Southwest in highway construction and mining trades. He was involved in several Western movies filmed in the Sedona area. A jack-of-all-trades, he was known throughout the Verde Valley as an excellent mechanic and welder.
He is survived by his brother Bob Piper; son Freddie [Ellen] Piper of Cottonwood; daughter Regina Williams; and three great-grandsons..
