The Sedona Police Department would like to make the community aware of three incidents over the last week involving suspicious activity of adult males approaching minors. The Police Department is investigating each incident thoroughly and is unsure at this time if they are connected or random.

Statements about these incidents appeared on social media with claims that cannot be verified, ergo, the city of Sedona and Sedona police are releasing the following information about them to clear up confusion and prevent erroneous rumors from spreading.

  • On Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, The Sedona Police Department received a report of a suspicious adult male at a local business at Dry Creek Road and W. State Route 89A who spoke to two juvenile employees on three occasions making them uncomfortable.

The male subject left without further incident and was not associated with a vehicle. The city of Sedona did not provide a description of this individual.

  • On Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, a report of suspicious activity was made involving three juvenile males, two of whom were approached and spoken to by separate adult males in separate vehicles who attempted to lure the boys into their vehicles — one with the offering of food, and one asking if the juvenile wanted to look in his vehicle, in the area of Coffee Pot and W. State Route 89A.

One of the juveniles was not approached or spoken with but did witness the vehicles in the same area. Both adult males left without further incident.

  • On Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, an additional report was made during which two female juveniles were spoken to by an adult male subject in a silver passenger vehicle outside of a local business in the Uptown shopping area on N State Route 89A. The male left the area without further incident.

Each of these incidents occurred in separate areas with different vehicle descriptions provided.

The Sedona Police Department continues to patrol the areas where these incidents occurred, and urges all residents and visitors to be aware of their surroundings and suspicious persons, and to report any similar incidents.
