The splash pad at Sunset Park opened May 1, much to the joy of children on weekends and after school.
The Sedona Community Pool at 570 Posse Ground Road will reopen to the public on Memorial Day weekend and will remain open for the summer season through Monday, Sept. 4.
“We’re looking forward to getting the pool going for the residents of Sedona,” city recreation and aquatics supervisor Josh Frewin said. “We open [Saturday], May 27, for the summer and our offerings this year will be much like in years past. It’ll be lap swim, water aerobics, open swim time, lessons, all kinds of the same programs.”
In previous years, the pool had to close frequently due to staffing shortages, which prompted residents to complain about the closures and rising prices on social media. However, Frewin indicated that may not be an issue for the 2023 season.
“Our staff and lifeguards have completed their certifications,” Frewin said. “We did recruitment bonuses and had a lot of returnees from last year. So we didn’t need to hire a ton of new staff for this year’s operations, so it’s been successful so far.”
