Plan for ADOT’s overnight lane restrictions on SR 179 from June 5 to 92 min read

Keeping Sedona informed, the Arizona Department of Transportation advises Sedona area drivers to plan for overnight lane restrictions on State Route 179 beginning the evening of Monday, June 5, through the morning of Friday, June 9, for pavement maintenance.

Residents should note that while the restrictions are in place, access to residential subdivisions with only one point of entry or exit may be affected for several hours while a pavement sealant cures for long enough to allow vehicles to safely travel on it.

Locations of work will be:

Monday, June 5: The “Y,” State Routes 179 and 89A roundabout to Highland Road

Tuesday, June 6: Highland Road to Oak Creek Mobile Lodge

Wednesday, June 7: Oak Creek Mobile Lodge to Poco Diablo Resort

Thursday, June 8: Poco Diablo Resort to the Chapel Road roundabout

Drivers should allow for extra travel time with overnight restrictions place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on State Route 179, which will be narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel between Chapel Road and SR 89A between mileposts 310 to 313.

Flaggers and a pilot car will guide traffic through the work zone. The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

Drivers should be prepared to come to a complete stop and expect delays while in the work zone. The restrictions will be lifted each morning.

The restrictions are needed so crews can apply an asphalt-based sealant, which refreshes and extends the pavement’s lifespan.
