The Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona offers $1,000 to $10,000 in grant funding to nonprofits, government agencies, educational institutions and tribal groups as a way of showing appreciation for their contributions to the quality of life in the Verde Valley.

“Since 1991, the Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona has developed 73 separate funds with assets exceeding $15 million,” ACF’s website states. “The Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona has awarded more than $11 million to area nonprofit organizations, schools and municipalities serving local needs.”

The 2023 nomination process will run from Monday, Aug. 21, through Friday, Sept. 8. The community is invited to submit their nominations for grant awards from the animal welfare, arts and culture, community improvement, diversity, education, social justice, environment and health care field of interest funds. Grants can be used to build an organization’s capacity, support direct service projects and programs, support capital expenditures and provide general operating support.

ACF offers grant application workshops to provide guidance and support to organizations seeking assistance with their applications, but workshop attendance is not mandatory to apply for funding. Upcoming workshops are:

Tuesday, Aug. 1, 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Zoom

Tuesday, Aug. 8, 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Yavapai College Sedona Center

“Among last year’s recipients, we gave defibrillators through the Griffith Blue Heart Nonprofit to the local police officers and working closely with search and rescues,” said Brenda Moons of ACF of Sedona. “[As well as] Meals on Wheels, where now it’s also providing food to companion animals.” Online registration for the workshops is available at acf.cventevents.com. For more information about  the grant cycle, visit the Grant Opportunities link on azfoundation.org or contact Moons at (928) 282-2042 or bmooons@azfoundation.org.

“We are planning an event to celebrate [and] present the checks on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Sedona Performing Arts Center,” Moons said.
