Thirteen poets competed in the Sedona Poetry Slam on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. Phoenix poet Stacy Eden won, followed by Tempest Juliet and Lydia Gates, both of Flagstaff. The event was hosted by Sedona poet Christopher Fox Graham, who has run the slam for the last 15 years. The top three poets will represent Sedona in the All-Arizona Championship Poetry Slam in the town of Maricopa next month. The next Sedona Poetry Slam will take place next on Saturday, March 9, at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre, with the winners earning spots to compete in the Arizona State Poetry Society poetry slam in April, hosted by Ben “B-Jam” Gardea at The Rebel Lounge in Phoenix. The winner of that statewide contest will get an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the American Federation of State Poetry Societies’ BlackBerry Peach Poetry Slam in Georgia in June.
