Sedona Fire District crews put out brush fire near home in the Village of Oak Creek2 min read

Sedona Fire District crews responded to an interface fire near 95 Courthouse Butte Road in the Village of Oak Creek on Wednesday, May 29.

The fire originated in the yard of a residential property before extending into the nearby vegetative wash, covering approximately ΒΌ acre, according to Sedona Fire District Community Risk Reduction Division Chief Booth.

The call came in at 1:36 p.m., and crews were on scene at 1:43 p.m.

Engines from Stations 3 in the VOC, Station 6 in the Chapel area of Sedona and Station 4 in Uptown, as well as crews from Station 1 in West Sedona responded.

Firefighting teams swiftly mobilized to contain the blaze, which has been effectively controlled, Booth said. Crews are currently working to extinguish any remaining hot spots to ensure the area’s safety.

Fortunately, the flames did not reach the residence, Booth said. However, smoke infiltrated the home through the air conditioning unit.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by SFD.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and remain vigilant. Meanwhile, it’s essential to note that the Fire Danger Rating in the area is currently “High,” and vegetation is highly ignitable, Booth said.
