Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the report of a stabbing in the area of Coffee Pot Rock Road in the Village of Oak Creek, south of Sedona at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22.
A YCSO patrol sergeant was the first on scene, where he encountered the alleged stabbing suspect, Lauren Levinson, 33, on the street near the home, according to YCSO Public Affairs and Government Relations Director Kristin Greene. Levinson was taken into custody without incident.
The sergeant then entered the residence where the stabbing occurred and found the suspect’s mother and father injured from multiple stab wounds.
Levinson’s mother was badly injured and had numerous puncture wounds to her back and her husband had been stabbed several times in his arm.
The suspect’s brother, who had been called to assist by one of the parents, was on scene and assisted the sergeant with life-saving measures on his mother and father including staunching the wounds to Levinson’s mother’s torso to protect her lung function, and applying a tourniquet to the father’s arm.
Once the scene was safe, the Sedona Fire District crews arrived and took over life-saving measures.
Levinson’s mother was flown to the trauma center at Flagstaff Medical Center. Levinson’s father was transported by ambulance to Verde Valley Medical Center to for treatment. The medical status of the two is currently unknown.
The YCSO Criminal Investigations Bureau detectives and evidence technicians took over the scene to investigate the stabbing incident.
