J. John Canon, 89, of Sedona, died Nov. 9.

His passion was flying and he eventually logged over 5,000 hours in flight as well as restoring a Navy Stearman biplane. He also served on the board of the Humane Society of Sedona.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Carolynn, Shawn, and Liz; stepchildren Denise and George; and grandchildren, Matthew, Caitlin, Eliza, Brickley and Reese.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the Humane Society of Sedona.
