Santa Claus will be returning to the Hub at Posse Grounds Park for the 15th annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 8 to 10 a.m. The event typically attracts around 500 people.

The city of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department will serve a pancake breakfast with sausages and beverages until 9:45 a.m.

“For as much as our department gets to do for our community, this is the one opportunity that our whole department gets to look everyone in the eye, give them breakfast and say ‘thank you,’ and really interact on that level, which is something that I love about it,” Parks and Recreation Special Events Coordinator Jason Vargo said. “There’s just a ton of joy in that whole room because everyone’s there for a magical experience. We get the reward of seeing everybody enjoy the work that we put in with our volunteers for decorating and setting up a great experience for everyone.”

About two dozen volunteers from the Sedona Red Rock High School Interact Club will assist with the event, serving food, clearing tables, helping children write letters to Santa and handing out goodie bags to attendees.

“We have some new decorations that we’re going to be presenting in photo opportunities,” Vargo said. “Our event is going to be very similar to what you’ve experienced in the past, with a delicious breakfast and the opportunity to visit Santa and let him know holiday wishes.”

The Sedona-based a capella group the Red RockAppella Ensemble, who have been performing locally since 2006, will put in an appearance for an hour of caroling.

“From 7:30 to 7:55 a.m there will be a sensory friendly time for those members of the community who have sensitivities that might otherwise prevent them from attending,” a city of Sedona press release stated. “Sensory-friendly time will include lower lighting, no music and limited numbers of people in the room, and Santa will still be present during this time.
