YCSO reminds visitors and residents alike to avoid leaving valuables in vehicles while parked at any trailhead area. Unfortunately, there are thieves who canvas the trailheads looking for unattended vehicles with the knowledge that many of the owners will be gone for extended periods of time while hiking or camping. If you must store valuables in the car, keep them out of view and lock them in the trunk. Better yet, bring only what you need when traveling in these areas and take identification and credit cards with you.

YCSO is urging anyone with knowledge of suspects involved in this and other recent trailhead burglaries to contact Yavapai Silent Witness, toll free, at 1-800-932-3232. Remember, you could earn from $100 to $1,000 and never have to give your name. If you notice a suspicious vehicle with occupants in trailhead parking areas, note the license plate number and report your findings to law enforcement.

Citizens can contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office with information or questions at 1-928-771-3260 or the YCSO Web site at www.ycsoaz.gov.
