A man was robbed at knifepoint early Sunday afternoon in the Village of Oak Creek.

According to Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office reports, the alleged victim was making a deposit in the night drop at Chase Bank on the corner of Hwy. 179 and Verde Valley School Road at 1:15 p.m. when the robbery occurred.

The alleged victim was making the deposit for a local convenience store when he said he was approached by a man carrying a knife.

He reported that the man poked him twice with the knife and then grabbed the money pouch before fleeing from the scene.

The victim was not injured, according to reports.

YCSO Public Information Officer Scott Reed said the amount of money in the pouch cannot be disclosed at this time.

Reed said this is common practice in robbery cases to protect the integrity of the investigation and to protect the business from becoming the target of other crimes.

The alleged victim was able to provide authorities with a description of the man.

The suspect was described as a 5-foot-5-inch Hispanic male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black framed sunglasses.

Witnesses said the suspect left the scene in a blue passenger car, possibly a Chevrolet Cavalier.

Reed is asking anyone with information to contact YCSO at 771-3260 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.
