This season for the Sedona Little League softball teams should be an exciting one with numerous players willing to learn anything, including new positions, how to hold a bat, and how to pitch with that funky motion that comes with the game of girls softball.

Nearly 30 players signed up to play softball this summer for the Sedona Little League, fielding a coach pitch team and a minors team on the diamond this season.

For the minors, head coach Kevin Brackin has a fairly solid squad and the girls have won a few games, but Brackin says don’t read anything into that.

“We haven’t really seen a team yet that can throw strikes, so we won’t know how good we can be until we’re forced to hit the ball,” Brackin said.

The minors squad has several players to watch out for this season and in the future for Sedona softball. With Sedona Red Rock High setting the tone at the high school level this season, these young players are looking forward to learning the ropes now, then applying those skills at the next level.

Beginning with starting pitcher Mollie Brackin, the minors squad has a solid pitching staff with Kendall Woellmer in the bullpen ready to go whenever needed.

Getting away from the mound, Emma Keider has a solid glove at shortstop and has a decent bat at the plate to drive in runs for her team this season.

Other standouts include Courtney Howard, Sophia Perry, Nikki Zielinski, Valerie Luyckx and Karen Giorgianni.

As for those players on the coach pitch team, skipper Shelly Woellmer has a few players to watch out for this season who could do some amazing things in a few years if they stick with it.

Kelsey Woellmer leads the way for the coach pitch team while Grace Hafner is second in command and has the look of a ball player already at the age of 7.

Other standouts include Natalie Montgomery, Audrey Perry, Chenoa Crans, Megan Milan and Emily Amadiei.

All of the coaches and players would love the chance to show you softball fans out there what they’re all about as they encourage fans to come watch them play.

The next home game for the minors team will be on Monday, May 4, against Camp Verde at the Posse Grounds.

First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

As for the coach pitch team, their next home game will be on Tuesday, May 5, against Verde Valley.

First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
