How long have you lived here?
Three months.
How do you like it?
It’s really cool, it’s really different.
How long have you been learning English?
Seven years.
What sports do you do?
I do swimming and next week I start soccer.
Which is your favorite?
Soccer because we played a lot in Brazil.
What’s the best part about it?
I think because I play with friends and everyone knows each other so we talk while we play and have fun.
The worst part?
When we start feeling bad because we play a lot and we get tired and we don’t eat.
What’s your favorite part about America so far?
The school with all of the sports teams, because we don’t have the sports teams in our schools in Brazil.
What American food do you like that you had never eaten before?
Apple pies and donuts.
Do you have a favorite sports team or athlete?
I cheer for a soccer team called Cruzeiro.
Do you have a favorite television show?
“Game of Thrones.”
Favorite food?
Pizza and hamburgers.
What do you aspire to be when you’re older?
An architect.
Do you have any pregame or prerace routines or superstitions?
When I was competing in the regionals, the whole week I ate healthy and drank a lot of water.
Is there a memorable game or race in your career?
This race in regionals because I had to drop seven seconds, and it’s really hard to do …. I dropped eight seconds so it was a really good race for me.
