FBI responds to fatal shooting that closed Oak Creek Canyon

Oak Creek Canyon was closed on State Route 89A at milepost 377 to the Rainbow Trout Farm from 4:15 to 9:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5. Law enforcement responded to a call of shots fired around 4:15 p.m. The FBI was been called to the scene because the incident happened on federal land. According to sources, a female U.S. Forest Service employee was involved in the incident. The FBI has reportedly identified the suspect as Tyler Miller, 51, of Hutchinson, Kansas.

IMG 66601The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Sedona Police Department, Sedona Fire District, Arizona Department of Public Safety and USFS Law Enforcement all have officers at the scene.

The road reopened at 9:32 p.m,, according to city of Sedona officials, after being closed from the Rainbow Trout Farm to the switchbacks.
