Attorney General’s Office indicts former Sedona couple on child sex charges

The Arizona Attorney General’s office announced on Tuesday, May 22, a grand jury indictment against a former Sedona couple for alleged sex crimes against a minor.

Matthew Kevin Dunlap, 40, and Marisa Ann Claire, 37, were arrested on May 11 in a joint operation by Sedona Police Department and Phoenix Police Department on charges related to sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl.

Dunlap was indicted on 33 counts, including sexual exploitation of a minor, sexual conduct with a minor and furnishing harmful or obscene materials to a minor. Claire was indicted on four felony counts, including molestation of a child, sexual conduct with a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Dunlap is also accused of possessing additional child pornography.

The alleged abuse began in 2016 in Coconino and Yavapai counties. According to the AG’s office, Dunlap is accused of taking videos of the sex acts on his phone and/or tablet. Claire allegedly participated in at least two instances of abuse on video.

The allegations came to light in February when the alleged victim told her parents about the videos, and her parents called Sedona Police Department.

An investigation into the allegations was immediately opened in cooperation with the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Both Dunlap and Claire were living in the Phoenix area when arrested.
