The Sedona Police Department is continuing its investigation into a trio of burglaries, all at the same location.
Over a five-week period at the end of the year, Bloom Dispensary, at 465 Jordan Lane, saw a series of break-ins in which an undisclosed amount of medical marijuana was stolen.
“They all occurred at night or very early in the morning,” SPD Sgt. Michael Dominguez said. “We’re relatively confident that it’s the same individual or individuals. We do have video so we’re working on that process. From the first one to the last it’s been the same — they smash the front door and then go in, taking the product, and then leaving.”
Due to the ongoing investigation, Dominguez said he was not at liberty to disclose what was stolen or any specific value associated with the marijuana.
“What I can say is, it’s been enough to affect the business,” he said.
The burglaries took place on Nov. 15 at 5:50 a.m., Dec. 4 at 4:18 a.m. and Dec. 24 at 7:05 a.m. Dominguez said those were the only known burglaries at that location.
“The business has been extremely cooperative in helping us during our investigation,” he said. “They are taking other precautionary measures and changing some of their procedures in regarding the storage of their merchandise after hours.”
In each case, the suspects smashed or pried open the front glass door to gain entry.
“Having one business targeted three times in a five-week period is significant — especially for our community,” Dominguez said. “It’s also a concern that they’ve been brazen enough to break into the same place and feeling comfortable enough to do so.
“This business is very product specific. It’s not like they went to three separate gas stations or banks to get the same specific product. This is the only location in our area for medical marijuana. What they’re doing with it after the fact — either selling it or using it — is not known.”
The suspects face burglary charges and could also face possession of marijuana charges. Depending upon the amount in their possession, and if they are reselling it, the burglar or burglars could face trafficking charges and trafficking of stolen goods, all of which are felonies.
