Alcohol to be served at SPAC during film festival1 min read

At the Feb. 4 Sedona-Oak Creek Board Meeting at West Sedona School it was decided that the Sedona International Film Festival will work as a trial event for serving alcohol at the Sedona Performing Arts Center, which is next to Sedona Red Rock High School and owned by the district.

The Board voted 4-1 to pass the temporary agreement to sell beer and wine in the SPAC lobby before events and during intermissions of SIFF screenings that will take place at the center from Feb. 21 to March 11.

Board member Karl Wisemen voted “nay” on the agreement, expressing concerns for liability issues, cleanliness and children being present while the alcohol is served.

SIFF will donate $1 per glass of wine and beer sold at SPAC to the Sedona Education Foundation, which can then be used for district funds.

SIFF will provide licensed vendors to card and distribute the beer and wine. The event hosts are also required to provide security and have liquor liability insurance.
