The owners of a proposed master planned development — as well as those for and against the project — will have to wait even longer for a decision on its outcome.
A hearing for Spring Creek Ranch was scheduled for the Yavapai County Planning and Zoning Commission’s March 19 agenda for a requested zone change. But out of concern over COVID-19, the commission meeting was postponed with items rescheduled for June. However, that too has since changed.
“We were notified in early May that our upcoming hearing was being postponed an additional 60 days so we will not be on the June agenda,” Lisa Borowsky, vice president of Spring Creek Holdings, said last week. “We were told that all P&Z meetings would be canceled. We understand we are on the August agenda.”
It looks as though it will be even later than that, according to Yavapai County Development Services Director David Williams. He said Spring Creek Ranch’s planning and zoning hearing will likely be held on Sept. 17.
“The Board of Supervisors, in a meeting a couple of weeks ago, directed staff to start scheduling
public hearings starting in September,” Williams said. “Staff will be re-advertising the case as we get closer to that date and those notices will provide the location and time of the meeting.”
If anyone wishes to provide any new public comment, they may send them to planning@yavapai.us. Comments already submitted have been retained and are still part of the public record, Williams said.
The proposed 282-acre project would be located off State Route 89A between Sedona and Cottonwood and would feature manufactured homes, apartment buildings, an RV park, a small store, two restaurants and 58 acres of open park and walkways.
“I urge all of you to keep an open mind,” Borowsky said to a packed crowd during a February event hosted by Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. “At the end of the day we’re going to be asking you for your support. It’s been a rough road. We are not discouraged because we know we’re here to create an amazing community at Spring Creek Ranch to join your overall Verde Valley community.”
