And then there were three.

The search for a new president and CEO of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce is moving ahead as a large field of candidates has been narrowed down to three as they seek to fill a vacancy left by Jennifer Wesselhoff, who accepted a job in Park City, Utah.

“The search is going very well,” Chamber Board President Lonnie Lillie said. “We are down to our final three and plan to interview them very soon.”

Lillie said the hiring committee narrowed down a very qualified group to eight candidates and from there it was narrowed to the final trio.

“We all agreed upon the final three but there was plenty of discussion.” Lillie said.

Lillie is hoping to have someone in place before the first of the year. But he said there are a few factors once a candidate is offered the job that could delay their stating date. Once an offer is extended, the Chamber will then negotiate a contract and then that person must give notice to his or her current employer. In Wesselhoff’s case, she was filling the position of someone who was retiring in Park City and was thus able to give the Sedona Chamber a 60-day notice.

“I’m looking forward to introducing the new CEO to the community sooner than later,” Lillie said.

Marketing Director Michelle Conway was named the interim president and CEO upon Wesselhoff’s departure a month ago.

“We have a dedicated and caring team that holds a unified vision,” Conway said. “That’s what gives us the foundation we need to keep the work moving forward and to maintain our connection with the community. We’re excited to welcome the incoming president/CEO and share with them our values and strong history of progress.”

“We have an amazing team who do a phenomenal job,” Lillie said. “Michelle is doing an excellent job in maintaining the road map the team has created.”
