A U.S. Forest Service agent was violently assaulted Tuesday, Feb. 15, at approximately 10:30 a.m. near the Palatki Heritage Site off Forest Service Road 525D.
Jonathan Kip Medford, 33, of Sedona, has been named a person of interest in this investigation and is actively being sought.
Medford was last seen fleeing on foot on Forest Road 525D. Roads and trails in the area are closed to the public and drivers will be turned back.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a manhunt in the area he was last seen.
Medford has an existing felony warrant with the Yavapai County Superior Court for theft or control of stolen property, criminal damage or defacement and failure to appear for an arrest in March 2020.
Medford is a 33-year-old white male, weighing approximately 185 pounds with long blonde hair and blue eyes, last seen wearing a long sleeve gray shirt and blue jeans.
He should be considered dangerous, and the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who may see him to not approach.
