Sedona Mayor Jablow pulls OHV ordinance vote off City Council’s Aug. 8 agenda1 min read

Sedona Mayor Scott Jablow told the Sedona Red Rock News on Monday, Aug. 7, that he has postponed the reading of the proposed OHV ban ordinance, pulling it from the Tuesday, Aug. 8, meeting. It had been listed as item 8d on the agenda.

According to Jablow, “while nothing has been set in stone” “steps have been taken with the different parties” for 35-mph governors and mufflers on OHV and directional signals.

“We are working with the local OHV rental companies to mitigate the impact on Sedona,” Jablow stated.

Jablow stated the ordinance will likely be on the Sedona City Council agenda for the Tuesday, Aug. 22, meeting to share with council and the public where the city is regarding OHVs and “show the positive direction being taken from all parties.”

In addition to the OHV item being pulled, a new item has been added to executive session after council discusses Sedona City Attorney Kurt Christianson’s annual evaluation. The new item is “Discussion and consultation with the City Attorney for legal advice regarding the proposed Improper Vehicle Equipment ordinance.”
