Coyotes thump Bobcats, 42-131 min read

The Big Park Community School girls basketball team is on a roll, winning its fourth straight contest to begin the season Thursday, Dec. 8, this time over Beaver Creek School, 42-13.

“We’re really good,” second-year Big Park Head Coach Amy Parrella said. “These girls have been putting in a tremendous amount of work, maybe two or three times more than anyone else, and it’s showing.”

Ashley Sutherland led all scorers for the Coyotes with 10 points and pulled 12 rebounds and had three steals in the 42-13 victory over the Bobcats.

Annie Parrella had six points and six assists while recording four steals and one rebound while teammate Madison Ninneman had six points, one rebound, one steal and one assist.

Hannah Ringel chipped in six points and the Coyotes went on to win their fourth straight contest to begin the 2011-2012 campaign.

Big Park opened the season with a 31-7 victory over Clarkdale-Jerome School on Nov. 29, then took out its frustrations on Camp Verde Middle School on Dec. 1, defeating the once unbeatable Cowboys, 38-23.

“If you remember last year, Camp Verde was the only team to beat us. They did it three times, so the girls were happy to get that win,” Amy Parrella said.

On Dec. 6, the Coyotes had no problems with visiting Mayer Middle School, 39-11, which led to the 42-13 win at Beaver Creek on Thursday.

Next up, the Coyotes are set to travel to Oak Creek School on Thursday, Dec. 15. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
