At 8:27 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, the Sedona Police Department responded to a 28-year-old male who had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound along Dry Creek Road between Thunder Mountain Road and Gideon Road. First responders provided medical attention, but the Sedona Fire District confirmed that the man was deceased upon arrival.
The SPD’s Nov. 28 evening shift report stated that the man “shot himself underneath his chin causing his death” and classified the death as a suicide.
“I was driving up Dry Creek Road last night from 89A,” stated a passerby who was contacted on Nov. 30. “I saw a lot of flashing lights and two police cars were pulled over on the right side of the road. A woman who is not a police officer who [was] standing on the side of the road waved me by. As I drove by, I looked over. There was a man on the ground, his face was covered in blood and they were doing chest compressions. A police officer was doing CPR on the person.”
SPD staff declined to comment on the ongoing investigation and have not released the deceased’s name. First responders were on the scene until 9:47 p.m.
