Members of a largely new Sedona Fire District Governing Board tackled the 2012-2013 fiscal year budget during their meeting May 23.

While a decision wasn’t reached on the final amount, the board is expected to discuss expenditures, including the district’s mill rate, during a Wednesday, June 6, budget workshop.

The prior SFD Governing Board approved a tentative $12.3 million budget in principal, approximately $800,000 less than last year’s budget. The district could also bring in $1.1 million less in taxes this year, SFD Fire Chief Kris Kazian said, should the mill rate remain unchanged. The June 6 meeting will begin with a 5:30 p.m. executive ses-sion and a public meeting beginning at 6 p.m.
