Jan Francis Herbst, 77, of Sedona, died Jan. 21, 2025.

He earned a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Cornell University and worked for Brookhaven National Laboratory and General Motors.

He was predeceased by his son, John.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Helen and Mary; brother, Paul; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
