Thanks to an innovations grant from the Pedigree Foundation, dog adoption rates in the Sedona area are expected to get a significant boost.

The foundation recently awarded the Humane Society of Sedona with a $10,000 grant for its programs designed to increase dog adoption rates.

The recent Pedigree grant will allow the Sedona facility a chance to further increase dog adoptions in Sedona. The grant is expected to increase dog adoptions by about 17 percent over 2011 adoptions. Funds from the grant are also expected to be used to modify and upgrade the Sedona Humane Society’s Mobile Adoption vehicle and allow the organization to purchase a portable adoption kiosk that will be used to inform the public about the humane society and its role in Sedona and the surrounding area.

Innovation grants can range from $10,000 to $25,000. Humane Society of Sedona Development Coordinator Betsy Klein said funds were used for both the kiosk and for the pet adoption vehicle.
