Work isn’t likely to start up again anytime soon at Barbara Antonsen Memorial Park in the Posse Grounds Park neighborhood.

The dome-like structure, recently named Posse Grounds Pavilion, collapsed Tuesday, Aug. 14, ceasing all progress on the long-standing project. No one was injured when the dome collapsed. Seven workers were reportedly inside the structure when it collapsed but were able to flee the area. Sedona City Manager Tim Ernster called the incident a “major catastrophe” while discussing the project at the Tuesday, Aug. 14, meeting of Sedona City Council.

“The Posse Grounds Pavilion project, the dome that was under construction, collapsed. Fortunately there was no one injured during that collapse,” Ernster said. “The next step in the process is that the insurance companies will conduct some sort of forensic investigation to determine the exact cause for the failure of the facility. We don’t know yet how long that will take. We don’t know how long the site will be fenced.”
