Track team fares well at Sedona Friendship Invitational1 min read

Runners, jumpers and throwers had to face strong gusts of wind and dropping temperatures throughout the evening at the Sedona Friendship Invitational on Wednesday, March 20, at Sedona Red Rock High School. The Scorpions, however, competed extremely well, particularly in the field and long distance events.

Ten teams competed in the state qualifying meet: five Division III teams including Camp Verde, Hopi, Mingus Union, Payson and Sedona; four Division IV teams including Northwest Christian, St. Johns, Valley [Sanders] and Greyhills; and one Division II team, Notre Dame Preparatory Academy.

Defov also took first place in the triple jump and the high jump.The Scorpions had 11 state qualifying times, throws and jumps, putting them in good shape for the state meet.

Girls

Senior Mykala Seresun dominated in her events. She placed first in the girls 1,600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 43.55 seconds and in the 3,200 with a state-qualifying time of 12:10.48.
