Sedona Police Department Cmdr. Ron Wheeler, known affectionately as “Wheels,” bids farewell to Sedona as he accepts the position of chief of police with the police department in Pinetop-Lakeside.

Wheeler has been with the Sedona Police Department for 11 years and said he has loved every minute of his job.

Wheeler said the most significant changes he has seen in his time at SPD have been the advancements in technology and the innovations that have transformed policing. He refers to the Mobile Data computers, the laser imaging detection speed guns and the addition of cameras on all the police cars.
