Junior transfer Andre Davis scored three first-quarter touchdowns and junior Brian Nguyen also had three scores as the Sedona Red Rock Scorpions football team hammered the Piñon Eagles 49-0 in Sedona’s home opener Friday, Sept. 6.
Despite a constant rain throughout the first half of the game, the Sedona offense used its superior speed around the edge to simply run past the Eagles for several long touchdowns.
But Scorpions coach Rick Walsworth was not necessarily pleased with the way his offense executed its game plan.
“Right now on offense we’re existing on skill,” Walsworth said. “We’ve got some guys with some speed, and you get them on the perimeter and they’re hard to catch.
“But we’ve got to get better at executing our base plays and making sure we’re blocking the guys we’re supposed to be blocking — we want to move the line of scrimmage, making sure we’re making our reads correctly.”
