At least two people from the Phoenix area were reportedly killed when their 1974 Bell UH-1V Iroquois helicopter crashed near Cordes Lakes on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The helicopter had reporedly landed at the Sedona Airport during the Sedona Airport Family Fun Day, but was not apart of the airshow. The “Huey” was at the airport for several hours before the pilot and passenger returned to the Phoenix area.
The aircraft did not refuel at the Sedona Airport, according to airport personnel. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Traffic Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash, which is spread over a 1/2 mile radius.The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
