Each of the Sedona Red Rock Scorpions fall sports teams — boys and girls cross-country, football, swimming and volleyball — have had successful seasons before, but this fall, all of the Scorpions’ fall sports teams are enjoying success in the same season.
The Scorpions’ football team is 6-1 and seeded No. 13 in the latest Arizona Interscholastic Association power rankings; the volleyball team is 11-1 and seeded No. 3, both the boys and girls swimming teams have several individuals and relay teams that could potentially go to the state meet and the boys and girls cross-country teams have been infused with several new runners who are revitalizing that program.
“All the teams are looking really strong,” Sedona Red Rock athletic director John Parks said. “We’re getting close to the state playoffs, so it’s just a matter of staying healthy the rest of the way out.
“I think all of us want to get a little bit better before we get into the playoffs, we need to improve on some things, and I know everyone is really working hard.”
Football
After squeaking into the playoffs as the No. 16 seed last season, the Scorpions football team returned many players from that team and added speedy junior transfer Andre Davis to the mix.
Sedona’s offense has averaged 30.3 points per game while its defense has given up an average of just 17.9 points per game.
