Jack Berdette Speirs, 91, of Scottsdale, died Nov. 7.

He was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Salt Lake City.

A decorated World War II Navy veteran, he and his wife lived in West Sedona for nearly 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary, of Scottsdale; sons Robert C. [Susan] of Scottsdale, James T. of Idaho and John D. Speirs [Tia] of Nevada; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

No memorial services are planned at this time.

A 2008 graduate of Michigan State University, Andrew Pardiac was a Larson Newspapers' copy editor and reporter from October 2013 to October 2017. After moving to Michigan, then California, Pardiac was managing editor of Sonoma West Publishers' four newspapers in Napa and Sonoma valleys until November 2019.
