An Arizona Department of Public Safety officer arrested a 45-year-old Tucson man on drug charges after a traffic stop near Camp Verde led to the discovery of $15 million worth of cocaine, DPS reported.
The DPS officer arrested Luis Figueroa on I-17 near Camp Verde shortly after midnight early Saturday, Jan. 26, after stopping the commercial tractor-trailer Figueroa was driving for alleged equipment violations, according to DPS.

The DPS officer arrested Luis Figueroa on I-17 near Camp Verde shortly after midnight early Saturday, Jan. 26, after stopping the commercial tractor-trailer Figueroa was driving for alleged equipment violations, according to DPS.
During the officer’s inspection of the trailer, plastic wrapped cardboard boxes were located on the floor of a wooden pallet. Further inspection allegedly uncovered 325 pounds of cocaine.
The cocaine was loaded onto the vehicle in Phoenix and was destined for St. Louis, DPS reported.
The cocaine has a street value of $15 million, according to DPS.
Figueroa was booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center on charges of transportation of a narcotic drug for sale — cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
