Back at full strength, boys hoops look to surprise1 min read

Junior Josh Cacciatore skies for the layup in a Red Rock Hoops Classic game at Sedona Red Rock High School. The Scorpions host the Chandler Prep Titans on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Despite a 3-10 record in the winter of 2013, Greg Strickling, head boys basketball coach at Sedona Red Rock High School, feels his team is in a place where it is going to be successful.

For it has already overcome the toughest hurdle, he added — the mental one.

“We’re learning now the mentality of what we need to do in order to be successful,” he said. “We played 13 games in 15 days against some really established big guys, and I like where we’re at. As long as we can win regional games, we’ll be good.”

The Scorpions seek to achieve that first regional win in three tries and end a five-game losing streak at 7 p.m. Tuesday,
Jan. 7, when they face Division III, Section III opponent Chandler Prep.
