Sometimes, the landscape of Sedona is enough to fulfill a wish. That was the case for Highland, Calif., native Trisha Walde, who was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer at age 50.
Though never a smoker, Walde was told by her doctors that she had only months to live. While in the hospital, she noticed a photo book of her daughter’s vacations. In it was a picture of Sedona’s red rocks. Walde asked if she could have a copy of the photograph for her hospital wall. Her daughter, Sera Floriek, and friend and nurse Haili Fry did her one better and took her up to see the views for herself the weekend of Friday, Jan. 18.
“Trisha was told that she had lung cancer and that it was terminal and that she had maybe until spring,” Fry said.
