Karen N. Schmitt, of Sedona, died Feb. 4.

She played a major role in the building of the new fire station in the Chapel area.

She is survived by her children Ken Knight and Fred Knight; and her husband Mike Schmitt.

Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. at Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Ave. in Cottonwood.

Andrew Pardiac

A 2008 graduate of Michigan State University, Andrew Pardiac was a Larson Newspapers' copy editor and reporter from October 2013 to October 2017. After moving to Michigan, then California, Pardiac was managing editor of Sonoma West Publishers' four newspapers in Napa and Sonoma valleys until November 2019.
