If his television is on, Estudantez Soccer Club Director of Coaching Manny Arias said he better not be the one at home watching it.

“If I’m watching TV, I’m not doing enough,” he said at a practice of his club soccer teams at Posse Grounds Park on Wednesday, Feb. 6. “I need more.”

Arias not only coaches, but directs the coaches of three levels of local youth soccer clubs for Estudantez. He is also the co-founder of the Sedona FC Strikers, a semi-professional women’s soccer team which will hold tryouts at the Verde Valley School beginning Saturday, March 1.

Add this to a soccer resume which has included coaching fellow United Soccer League team the Arizona Saguaros, the Arizona Heatwave of the Women’s United Soccer Association, establishing and running Chivas USA, Atlas FC Academy, Barcelona Futbol Club and other Arizona club soccer teams and performing duties as instructor for the Arizona Youth Soccer Association and a member of the Olympic Development Program for youth.

“I know a lot of players,” he said. “So if they see coach Arias has something going, they get on their cell phones and give me a call.”
