Sedona Red Rock High School head softball coach Mike Keider expects big things from his girls this year.

Naturally, with those new expectations, the Scorpions voted to get new uniforms.

“We’re going to start wearing them after the second game,” he said. “The girls wanted to get ones that weren’t so restrictive. They were a little uncomfortable.”

The uniforms were voted on during the Scorpions’ first week of practice, which was only three weeks before their Tuesday, March 4,home opener against Williams High School. Such a short period of time to prepare might concern many coaches, but not Keider.

“We’ve got good defense, but our top six batters are consistent, which is huge,” he said. “We’ve got three, if not four, batters who can hit players over.”
