The Sedona Red Rock High School baseball team [4-4] enters the second week of April looking to even the score after evening its record.
After dropping a surprising 14-5 home tilt with Valley Christian High School, the Scorpions used three runs over the third and fourth innings to go back over .500 in Division III, Section IV play with a 7-4 triumph over Northland Preparatory Academy.
“I’m stressing to them, we need to get the bats hot and score first,” head baseball coach Craig Eagle said. “Every time we score first, we take the game. But it’s hard to keep mental and physical focus when guys get down early.”
So to get a road win Wednesday, April 9, at Williams High School and return the favor for the 9-7 home loss the Vikings dealt the Scorpions in their season opener March 4, Eagle wants his players to jump on them — before they get jumped on.
“That’s exactly how it’s been in our four wins,” Eagle said. “We jumped out early, just put pressure on them. It definitely made us a little more relaxed and put us in a groove.”
