After more than a week of trying, the Sedona FC Strikers scored their first goal in their young history May 25.

At home at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, the Seattle Sounders Women [1-1] could be their first win.

The Strikers [0-4] rebounded from shutout losses at home and away to the Los Angeles Blues with a first-half goal by Esmeralda Verdugo at the Santa Clarita Blue Heat before falling, 4-1, in Downey, Calif.

“We had a very intense, confidence-building game at Santa Clarita,” said Strikers head coach Manny Arias. “I’m very satisfied: We put effort and pressure on the ball. If we have a full team, it’s a different game.”
