Just down from Uptown, tennis players looking for a regular court time can find one at the Poco Diablo Resort.

Drills for Skills and Cardio Tennis keep players active on the four resort courts beginning at 7:30 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays, respectively.

And more may be on the way, said Paxton Baker, country club director at Poco Diablo.

“We might start more things,” he said. “I’ve got a tennis pro here in town I’m working with. Drills for Skills was just added last spring, but Cardio Tennis has been here the last two years.”

Open and advanced doubles sessions are also available three days a week both for country club members as well as for those interested in purchasing a membership.

“People can call and try it for a while if they want to join and play,” he said. After three or four weekly sessions at $12 per hour, per person, players interested in becoming regulars will then need to purchase a membership. “We love having new blood.”
