A Day in the West did not allow the elements to rain on its parade through Posse Grounds Park and the Sedona Parks and Recreation Department’s Adult Softball League.

With its second win of the summer Thursday, Aug. 7, over Red Rocks Rotary, A Day in the West locked up the regular season league championship and the top seed in the championship tournament, 16-3, in spite of a week’s delay due to rainout of the park softball fields July 31.

While the race for first proved not to be close, the race has heated up for the top six seeds and the final bye to the quarterfinals of the league tournament Thursday, Aug. 14. Rick Perez, head coach of the Red Rock Rebels — a half-game away from the No. 6 seed in sixth place — is one who has not ruled anything out.
