Dr. Paul Schnur is well-known in the Verde Valley as a longtime physician but now he’s being recognized for something else.

Last month he was told that he was being inducted into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame Society for not only his time in the military but the work he’s done with veterans since then.

“I was very surprised,” he said. “I knew I had been nominated but I never thought I would be named. I’m very honored and pleased.”

According to the Hall of Fame’s criteria, the nominee must have been born in Arizona, entered military service from Arizona, or lived in Arizona for a minimum of five years. They must have received an honorable discharge from the U.S. military service, be of good character and have no felony convictions. Posthumous nominations are accepted.
